Renewal’s Christmas Needs

By December 11, 2011January 26th, 2023No Comments

Most of the ladies at Renewal are experiencing Christmas for the first time in many years, clean and sober.  The season is filled with love, laughter, giving, singing, praising and worshiping;  all with considerable great reasons for celebrating.  Many volunteers help at the Renewal Center celebrating the birth of Jesus by throwing Christmas parties, leading devotions, and giving gifts.  These selfless acts of service to these broken ladies help show Jesus’ love.  The hearts of those giving and receiving are filled with gratitude and thankfulness for bringing these blessings at this time in their lives.

I was a client at the Renewal Center during Christmas and every day there was something special happening.  There was a lot of cheer among the hustle and bustle and the halls were filled with the donations of Christmas gifts for the clients of Renewal and Shepherd’s Gate.  I have to say, it was one of the best Christmases I’ve ever had.

One day, I was in need of a stamp to mail a Christmas card, the receptionist reached in her drawer and pulled out some stamps that someone had donated for sending Christmas cards.  I was in awe that someone had actually thought of that small, tiny detail and began to realize that God had moved someone’s heart to give those stamps.  That seemingly small gift was absolutely tremendous in my heart and taught me about God’s awesome provision and love in such a special way.

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.  If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”  Romans 12:6-8
