My Favorite Moment at Shepherd’s Gate

By October 12, 2016January 26th, 2023No Comments

For this blog I was asked to tell my favorite moment at Shepherd’s Gate, but when trying to think of just one, it was really impossible!  It was rather like asking me to eat just one peanut butter M&M. . . I can never do it!!

Of course, any time someone accepts Christ here it is a huge favorite time for me!  To see the glow that comes to a lady’s face is amazing!  To hear her share with others what God has done in her life is so very heartwarming!

To see the women “get it” in terms of learning something about themselves from the Word of God is awesome!  We have some of the best devotional speakers at “The Gate,” and the women learn so much about who God has created them to be; they learn about how God sees them every minute of every day!  Again, the glow on a face when they understand who God is and how He sees them is transforming!

Christmas!!  Christmas here is magical.  God uses so many people to make this special time of the year just that—SPECIAL!  There are the thoughtful gifts; the special breakfasts and the parties.  The devotional speakers come to tell His Story to the women from many different perspectives (how Joseph might have felt; how Mary might have seen all the events; the shepherds; the wise men; the star. . ., but each telling ends up in the same place: John 3:16.  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

I could keep going.  I have enough stories to fill a book, and each one of them is so amazing in its own way.  I guess if pressed to tell just one, I would have to say that my favorite moment would be this one—the one I’m experiencing right now—today.

Each day at Shepherd’s Gate brings something very different and new.  It is always challenging and always exciting!  I am grateful to serve God here and to know that each time I walk through the doors I will leave that evening with at least one favorite moment!
