Families at the Greenville Rescue Mission

Kathy was 8 months pregnant. Her husband had lost his job and they had no place to live. Money was not available to pay the rent much less to buy groceries and all the necessities that a new born baby would need. Frightened and discouraged they turned to the Greenville Rescue Mission as their last hope.

Greg and Kathy not only found a place to sleep and three meals a day, they found kindness and people who cared. They were provided with personal items, clothing and yes, even baby things. When a new little baby boy was born, they had no worries about being out on the street. Greg also found a job and how they live in a place of their own.

Here at the Greenville Rescue Mission we have five small apartments for families. Families share a large living room, a playroom for children, and a kitchen. Meals are eaten in our mission dining room. We see a steady stream of families coming and going. They all share a common thread—they have no where else to turn. It is such a joy to be able to offer help in very extreme situations. But it is even more thrilling to give the message of God’s love and His offer of salvation. What a blessed thought it is to know that sometimes someone comes to us in need of a temporary place to live and we can also tell them about how to know God and become assured of an eternal Home!
