When we think how long some of our clients, myself included, spend in addiction it can be mind boggling to think after 7 months a person can navigate from Addiction to Overcomer. That is what man thinks. We know God has other plans for our lives and when we put our trust and our life in His hands 7 months is a very real time frame. Men come to the program lost, scared, broken, and beaten up by the world because of a lifetime of bad decisions and loss of hope. While the blue print for changing life may be simple: Sumitting one’s will, Following Directions, and Accepting Help it will prove to be the toughest thing any of us do. Although it may be hard, when we get to the point of opening our hearts, souls, and minds to Jesus Christ, he walks us over the bridge from Addiction to Overcomer. We have tried so many times in our life to free ourselves from addiction the only thing we really accomplish is making our life even more of a mess. Galatians 5:1 sums up our need for Christ to help us overcome: “It is for freedom, that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” In addiction we are held in bondage to our emotions, guilt, shame, anger, resentments, or anything that creates a whole in our soul and that we use to fuel our addiction. Christ takes that away and gives us the freedom we need to become an Overcomer. When we allow Christ to direct our path then going fron Addiction to Overcomer is a wonderful and joyful trip into realizing who we are in Christ….mike
