For many people, Easter is a time of new outfits, family gatherings, great food, and enjoyable activities that generate fun-loving experiences and fond memories. These are all things that individuals choose to do each Easter, but no one thinks of choosing to be in a homeless shelter at all – especially at a special time like Easter. Discouragement can set in and Easter only becomes another day for the homeless person to feel sad and down because of the circumstances in which he finds himself; however, the simple message of Easter is the new life we can have because Jesus Christ our Savior has risen from the dead and is victorious over sin, death, and Hell.
“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 15:57. Easter is a time of new hope for anyone in a homeless shelter because ones past does not have to dictate ones future. Even individuals who think they may have made a mess of their lives can see a new life filled with victory through Jesus Christ, and this is a promise to anyone – not only to someone living in a homeless shelter. Because Christ lives, there is hope for you, for me, and for anyone who is willing to seek Him.
