Disguised Blessing

Romans 8:28. . .  why, yes, it is still there!  It is the verse that is so often quoted when we don’t know what else to say.  It is the verse that is so often quoted when silence would be the better choice of the moment. It is the verse that the women here find so difficult to understand—that all of us at one time or another find difficult to understand. It is the blessing in disguise verse. It is the verse that always remains true—even though we are facing the unthinkable, the unexpected, the heartbreaking, the breathtaking—“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

So does that mean even the years of abuse by a trusted friend, the death of a loved one, the failure of a relationship, the years of drug/alcohol usage. . . ?  How in the world can He work that out for my good?!!!  HOW CAN THAT BE?  I don’t know, but I do know that all of God’s Word is true.  I don’t have to understand it, I don’t have to like it at the moment; I just need to trust Him.  I just need to trust that He is always faithful to do what He says He will do.

The song, Trust His Heart, by Babbie Mason and Eddie Carswell comes to my mind as I write. If you have never heard it, please find it and listen to the words. I print them here because they seem so fitting:

All things work for our good
Though sometimes we can’t see how they could.
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth.
Our Father knows what’s best for us;

His ways are not our own.
So when your pathway grows dim,
And you just can’t see Him,
Remember you’re never alone.

Chorus:
God is too wise to be mistaken.
God is too good to be unkind.
So when you don’t understand,
When you don’t see His plan,
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart.

He sees the master plan.
He holds the future in His hand
So don’t live as those who have no hope,
All our hope is found in Him.
We see the present clearly,
But He sees the first and the last.
And like a tapestry He’s weaving you and me
To someday be just like Him.
Chorus

So you don’t get what He’s doing in your life right now? TRUST Him (Proverbs 3: 5-6)!! I can guarentee that you will one day discover that everything that is happening in your life at this moment  is really a blessing in disguise!
