Christmas at MHRM Cherokee County
How do homeless men and women celebrate Christmas? For most homeless individuals, spending time with family is not an option because of distance, past failures, and present problems. If Christmas is merely looked upon as a time when families get together to exchange gifts, eat meals, and share special moments and memories with one another, then most homeless individuals would have reason to be very sad at Christmas time.
At Miracle Hill Rescue Mission, we encourage our residents to be in touch with their families and use this time to help make amends for past failures and build bridges toward the future; however, we seek to teach each resident that Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As a child of God, we have a new family – fellow believers, and if natural families are not an option, we can spend time with and encourage other members of the family of God.
Our residents are not forgotten at Christmas. Thanks to the family of God, items are given to the Mission and are passed on to the residents. A special Christmas meal is provided for all residents and each man, woman and child will receive a special box or bag just for them that is filled with personal care items along with additional items of clothing and candy.
