Volunteer Projects

To some people, the idea of volunteer projects at a homeless shelter seems out of place. As they think about the people residing at a shelter, they often think of words such as “deadbeat”, “lazy”, and “hopeless”; however, even though this may be the way by which some residents could be described, it is not true of the majority of men and women seeking help from a homeless shelter.
Miracle Hill Rescue Mission is not a place where men or women can just come and sit. Each resident is held accountable for his actions and is required to participate in activities around the Mission as well as work his plan to become a productive citizen through wise choices, education, employment, and service.
Residents can be easily discouraged, but it is amazing the difference that can take place in a resident’s life when someone gives of his time to serve a hot meal and actually sit down next to the resident and enter into meaningful conversation. The resident is encouraged by a concerned stranger being interested in a homeless person like him.
Each ministry outreach with Miracle Hill has opportunities for volunteers to become involved in the lives of those residing in our facilities. Whether it is answering phones, doing landscape projects, helping in a thrift store or merely “giving a cup of cold water in the name of the Lord”, volunteering in a homeless shelter does help to make a difference.

As a 3 time resident of MH Rescue mission, I find myself so blessed that I would like to share my story of God’s miracle in my life.
