Unexpected Blessings–or Miracles in Disguise!

By October 30, 2012January 26th, 2023No Comments

Do you ever read the Scriptures and wonder if all of those great miracles really happened? I mean–a whole sea parting? A battle won by marching around a wall? Another battle won because a group of 300 men shined lights, blew trumpets and shouted? How in the world can that be? And— if those and all of the other stories told are true–then why don’t we see miracles like that happening today?

First, let me say that the Word of God is true; all of it is true (2 Timothy 3:16), and secondly, if you look—miracles, unexpected blessings, happen all the time. I have said this so many times before, but –we see the unexpected happening all the time here at Shepherd’s Gate. We have the privilege to see miracles on a daily basis!!

Our miracle of the moment is happening to one of our shelter guests.  Although this sweet lady has looked and looked for a job everyday for weeks– she hasn’t been able to find one. It isn’t that she doesn’t want to work.  She worked for years in deli counters and knows that type of work like “the back of her hand.”  The problem is that she can no longer see the back of her hand. This dear lady has cataracts on both eyes and desperately needs eye surgery.  However, it doesn’t take long to realize that a lady in a homeless shelter + necessary eye surgery= no jobs, no money, no, no and no!!!  Good grief—where is God’s miracle in this situation?               Wait!                 Here it comes.               This woman’s case worker made several phone calls, and Surgeons for Sight is going to do her eyes for her at no cost—–FREE!!   AND—there is a local business that is interested in talking to her about a job!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Come on now—-only God!

The parting of the Red Sea? No. The falling of the walls of Jerico? No. But please, please don’t try to tell this lady that God is not still in the miracle working business. I don’t think that she will believe a word of it!!!
